The product family includes a new device - Smart Meter, which communicates with Smart servers / Head End System across a wireless network. This Smart Meter replaces the existing mechanical meters. The system suite also consists of Smart Units, to control non-metered resources like Transformers. In conjunction with a statewide network, the new system provides better accountability, increased revenues and better satisfaction to consumers. The billing system is customizable and is compatible with existing slab-based rates. When the need arises the billing system can be modified per consumer to suite the requirement.

The new device is SMART because

• It keeps information Synchronized between the consumer and the Head End System.
• It Measures the current consumption of the consumer and computes the billing amount as per the existing rates
• It Reports the billing, usage and payment information to the consumer. Summary reports are available for higher officials to enable resource monitoring for a whole region.
