Kerala is a popular tourist destination in India, known for its natural beauty, culture and traditions. The state is known for its tourism industry and has a large number of homestays, catering to domestic and international tourists. The market for homestays is expected to grow in the coming years. 

According to the 2018 study Kerala migration survey by S Irudarajan and KC Sakharia, one in every fifth house in Kerala has at least one migrant abroad. Furthermore, as per the 2011 census, around 11% of the houses in Kerala are lying vacant, leading to 1.2 million vacant houses in the state. This indicates a huge potential for property management and homestay services in the state.

The elderly population in Kerala is also significant, with 12.6% of the population aged above 60 years. The proportion of elderly citizens is projected to increase by nearly 280% by 2050. Therefore, there is a growing demand for elderly care services in the state.
