MORPHING DRONE has been developed owing to the drawbacks of the conventional way by which different types of drones are being deployed for different missions. Examples multi rotors are used when hovering and high athletic capabilities are required and winged unmanned air vehicles are used for large distance, high endurance, and surveillance missions. The design has been mimicked from aves (birds). Birds change the shape of the wings to course through different environmental conditions of high altitude, gliding or low altitude flight through dense locations etc. This observation motivated the team to develop a drone that can morph and grow to change its aerodynamic characteristics to satisfy different mission demands. Hence only a single drone is required for missions thereby reducing mission cost.
