N-Sonde is a new modality introduced by Augsenselab for sensing based on a combination of GNSS tomography and radio occultation. GNSS Tomography uses delays in the propagation of radio signals through the atmosphere from GPS (Global Positioning System) or other GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) satellites. As the signal passes through the atmosphere, it gets refracted due to variations in atmospheric parameters such as pressure, temperature and water vapor concentration. The signals appeared to travel more distance than actual due to this refraction. N-Sonde records this delay of Signals and reconstructs the Refractive index. Augsenselab’s patented algorithm creates a 3D Map of the atmosphere from refractive index N. The atmospheric parameters such as Pressure, Temperature and Relative Humidity can be derived from this N Value. Further assimilation of N value into numerical Weather Prediction Models, improves the accuracy of hyper-weather local forecasting.
N-Sonde, is an integrated system comprised of a set of sensors and the associated cloud-based computational framework for the reconstruction of the refractivity profile. The users of the system can retrieve past data and forecast using predefined APIs. The system also offers a secured web application to configure the sensors, create reports in predefined templates, and a dashboard with various pictorial representations.
