The Hyvax hydrovac truck is Kerala's only truck-mounted, combined suction-and-jetting excavation and desilting system — a TMVT 3MTL 200V unit built around a tri-lobe blower rated at 3,200 m³/hr airflow and 0.65 kg/cm² pressure/vacuum, running at 2,400 RPM. This combination of high-volume vacuum and high-pressure water jetting is what allows the truck to do two very different jobs with one machine.
The first is desilting and sludge handling: the jetting nozzle breaks up and liquefies silt, slurry, and sludge inside drains, tanks, sumps, and pits, while the vacuum system simultaneously extracts the loosened material into an onboard holding tank. Because the unit handles wet material, not just dry debris, it can clear the kind of waterlogged, compacted silt that manual labour or conventional dry-suction equipment struggles with — the everyday reality of Kerala's monsoon-affected drainage network.
The second is hydro-excavation: instead of digging with a mechanical bucket that can sever pipes, cables, or fibre lines, the truck uses pressurised water to gently break up soil around buried utilities, while the vacuum removes the resulting slurry in real time. This makes excavation near underground infrastructure precise and non-destructive — a capability increasingly required by utilities and government agencies working in dense urban ground.
Across both use cases, the defining advantage is that no worker ever enters a drain, tank, or excavation pit — eliminating the confined-space and manual-scavenging risk inherent to how this work has traditionally been done in Kerala.
