Our pregnancy tests are based on the detection of a panel of pregnancy-associated
glycoproteins (PAGs), which are only produced (in placenta) in the presence of an embryo or
foetus.
? PAGs are a family of proteins that are produced by specialized cells of the developing placenta.
? These proteins start being produced early in pregnancy, are taken up into the dam’s blood and
can be found in serum. If the protein is not present in serum, the animal will be non-pregnant/
open.
? The proteins are detected using ELISA
? Sensitivity is 95-97% and Specificity is 99%
? For Cows we can test after 28 days of post breeding. For goats 30 days, sheep 35 days and
buffalos 40 days of post breeding
