Real-Time Energy Manager Overview

The Real-Time Energy Manager is an advanced solution for daily meter tracking and energy management. Using IoT technology and smart 4G connectivity, it ensures contact-less, error-free data collection and accurate, up-to-date readings. It supports regular, manageable billing cycles, optimizing utility management and reducing both time and costs.

System Overview

1. Meter Reading Interface: This IoT device attaches easily to a meter’s optical port and reads data using IEC1107 or DLMS protocols. It also features an optional wired interface for DLMS integration, making it compatible with meters that have been in use for 10-15 years. An additional optical port allows for manual reading if needed.
2. Connectivity to Server: The device uses 4G LTE for data transmission, with fallback options to 2G, Wi-Fi, or BLE. It relies on GSM connectivity, eliminating the need for additional infrastructure. If 4G or 2G networks are unavailable, it integrates with PM WANI or similar wired open networks. Data is sent once daily, keeping data costs minimal (approximately ₹5 per month) and removing the need for physical inspections.
3. IoT Device Power Supply: The unit operates on a combination of non-rechargeable battery and inductive energy, providing a battery life of 5-10 years with minimal maintenance required.
4. Mounting of Existing Meter: The compact device connects to the optical port of existing meters and can include an anti-theft tag to prevent tampering.
5. Configuration Options: Devices can be configured remotely via the server, allowing for the input of customer ID, meter ID, tariff details, and more. Each device features a QR code for customers to check their profile.
